FOLK & MODERN ART


Basket work, brilliantly colored rugs and a decorative wood - carved chest provide the museum with colorful display of Cypriot Folk Art. There is also a collection of gourds painted by the refugees in the concentration camps. And at least on depicts scenes of paratroopers landing on the island during the Turkish invansion.

 

It also includes a collection of rare and unpublished documents of Greece, Cyprus, Britain and Turkey, like the ones that donate to the museum the journalist and author of the book "Who Killed John Polk".

 

These documents contain all the correspondence between Greece, Cyprus, Britain and Turkey from 1940 until 1960. They were declaired as confidential from the State Department and they are not yet studied.

 

All the pieces of Folk and modern Art and the rare documents connect the past with the present of the great culture of Cyprus.
